I needed to hang a curtain up across a hallway in order to make things easier on the air conditioner.No need to cool the front room that is barely used.Nailing a curtain across the entry to the hallway seemed a little tacky... plus would mean holes in the wall, and make it hard to open the curtain.So, decided I needed to find a small tension curtain rod.I bought one locally that was flimsy plastic and not able to hold the weight of a heavy thermal curtail.I turned to amazon, and saw that this one looked promising, plus I liked the bronze-look to it considering it is being used in a front room area.It really is solid and nice looking, was very easy to install, AND it holds the weight of the heavy thermal curtain without a problem. Now I can easily slide the curtain to the side when I want to open things up, and it actually looks nice hanging on the rod.The price of this rod and a curtain panel was much cheaper then spending $400 on another AC, and then what it would have added to my power bill.
So I was pissed at first as I tried to mount this rod. Kept twisting it 'till my wrists were sore. Then I broke down and read the directions.it was one of those momentslike when the wizard of Oz goes from black and white to colorit all made sence and was very simple to install. It looks great, has nice silicon type grips in the suction cup ends and is very, very secure. Pretty sure I could do pull-ups on this baby, if I could only do a pull-up.5 star

We purchased this tension rod to try to convert a tall cabinet into an armoire/closet for our daughter's nursery. The piece has heavy matte bronze hardware and we didn't think we'd be able to find a tension rod to match, but didn't want to drill into the sides to install something more permanent. We were excited to find this item in the bronze. Our hopes weren't too high for the performance, though, given the price. We were surprised at how substantial the rod is, how gorgeous the finish is, and how easy it was to "install" and level given the innovative mechanism. Best of all -the fit is so tight and secure, that it will easily take as many hangers full of infant or even adult clothing as we need it to without slipping a millimeter. Couldn't be happier with this item.

This is exactly what I needed in my newly renovated bathroom; however, the instructions are LAME on how to use this.I'm no dope and I've used tension mounted rods for over 30 years, but this one is different.You need to know the EXACT measurement of where this is being placed since there is ZERO room for error.
The 3 sentence instruction sheet tells you to pull the rod out (not twist it like 99% of other rods out there) to the desired length, then add 1" extra for the tension.
Well, heaven forbid you pull the rod out a bit too much because once it is out, you can't "twist" it back down to the correct size.Once you twist it, it locks into place and that's the size you are stuck with.And if you "push" it back to reduce the size, whatever locking mechanism is inside this rod breaks and now you have a "no-tension" rod!
This should be explained in detail in the instructions but it is not.
Fortunately, I can use the now non-tension rod for my bathroom window curtains, but if you don't have a secondary use for it, you're screwed and left with a useless rod.
I'm going to order another one now that I know what the deal is with this thing since I still have a need for a tension rod this large in my bathroom.I just wanted to let others know about this "defect" in the product before the same thing happens to them.

I had a hard time at first trying to figure out how to make it stay in place as it was not a traditional spring but put up brackets to hold it in place and it looks good.Much nicer looking overall that traditional spring rods.
