Maytex No More Mildew Shower Curtain Liner

I never thought I would be writing a review about a shower liner but this one deserves much credit. I had a flimsy shower liner I picked up from the bulls eye major store for over $10. That shower liner was so thin that when you turned on the water it flew into you and you could not get it to stay away (the thin liner). It (old shower liner) had the suction cups even but if it is too light it does not matter, it is going to blow all around. I was on the search for a clear one that would actually stay in place. I ordered the clear one a few months back and immediately upon receiving it noticed the weight of the liner. It is heavy but not too heavy. Heavy enough to stay in place! I noticed it did not have the suction cups at the bottom and usually prefer those. However in this case the liner is heavy enough the suction cups are not needed. The liner stays in place the whole time! After buying it at regular price I noticed it was a lightening deal special a few weeks later and picked another one up when it is time to change it. It does hold true to its word, no mildew! Mine has a little soap built up on it but I still use bar soap. I rinse it with a detachable shower head when done showering but there is still some soap scum on it but not too bad. Having the detachable shower head I have cleaned it with shower cleaner by spraying cleanser on it and them coming back over with the detachable shower head. It removes some of the soap scum but not all. I think it is the bar soap I am using, you might not encounter this problem.I have bought clear shower liners for years and have to say this is the best one. I am glad I have a back up even though I don't anticipate having to replace the one I am using right now.For the same price you can go to a local well known store and get a liner that is really flimsy or spend the same amount for a well constructed and heavy weight one that actually works! Buying two of these I will never buy another cheap brand again. This is the brand for me.

Revised September 3, 2012: Added March 2nd, 2012: I wanted to add I bought this shower liner September 14, 2009 and wrote my review shortly after. As of today, the liner has lasted me since then. It has not mildewed at all. I have tried to wash it in my washer, but it does not remove all soap scum, again it is the soap I use. I do not have hard water either. I did want to say I bought a replacement because I did not think it would last long. Tonight I removed the liner I bought in September of 2009 and am placing a new one up. It is the same liner. I noticed a lot of people left comments about washing the liner, which I will admit I did myself but it left it so wrinkled coming out of the washer. I also read people dried their liner in the comment section, the company states not to dry it. Here is what the back reads, I wrote it exactly as it was on the label, any capitalization is per the company and not me: "Care instructions for maintenance: Wipe clean with sponge or cloth with a warm soapy mixture, anti bacterial soap, to remove oil, soap, and residue. DO NOT IRON OR PUT IN DRYER

Warranty: This product is guaranteed against all defects, including failure to protect against mildew for 15 months, provided proper care instructions are followed."

I know people suggest washing, I did so myself.I have since received several comments about drying it and one person was nice enough to suggest placing it in the dryer on no heat with a wet towel. I think that is a great idea. I do want to add that it lasted well beyond the warranty. September 2009 until March of 2012, that is not bad to me. This is still the only liner I will buy.

We have a bathroom with a small window, facing North, that is constantly being used for a shower or bath (2 adults and 2 young kids), so we are always fighting mold and mildew issues, not only around the tub and shower caulking, but up until now, also the shower curtain liners.We have usually either bought ones that you can clean (end up getting torn up after washing), or guiltily buying ones that are throw-away.

I decided to try this one out, not expecting much, but after 6 months of continuous use, not ONE indication of mildew!Amazing!Finally a product that delivers on it's promise.This is one of those things you expect to see touted on late night infomercials by a sleazy, loud huckster, but this thing actually does what it promises.

UPDATE after a year and half of use...STILL going strong and only a few tiny spots of mildew, which is easily wiped off.I feel kind of crazy harping on about a shower curtain like this, but as I said before, something in this day and age that actually does/is what it says in the marketing, is worthy of praise.I'm starting to wonder if I will ever need to buy another shower curtain, and I bet the manufacturer is questioning whether or not they should have made something SO good given the lack of replacement buying!

Very thick and resistant shower curtain, only complaint is that it does not have little suction cups on the ends to attach to shower to keep even more water out, had that on my last one but it was not as mildew resistant as this one. Other than that its better then most.

This is a scam.What is not stated in the informational portion of the listing is how the liner becomes mildew free.On the packaging it states "100% Guaranteed Not To Mildew." Then on the back it states, in much smaller print, that the warranty is only good if the proper care instructions are followed.The proper care instructions state you must "wipe clean with sponge or cloth with a warm soapy mixture of anti-bacterial soap . . . this process should be repeated once a month"Gee whiz, IF I CLEAN THE ENTIRE SURFACE OF THE SHOWER CURTAIN ONCE A MONTH WITH ANTI-BACTERIAL SOAP, IT'S GUARANTEED NOT TO MILDEW.No kidding, but why would I need to spend twice as much for this liner if I'm doing all that work?Since the same care instructions would work on ANY plastic liner, this "guarantee" is worthless.Also, the warranty is only good for 15 months.My advice: buy something less expensive, spray with a mixture of three parts bleach to one part water when needed (a lot easier then sponging down), and replace the liner every 15 months.

It is a great idea with a modern, clean look and overall does what it is supposed to do. Good price from Amazon to boot. However, it does eventually get soaked and lets water through after about 10 minutes. The biggest complaint is that when paired with a Curved Hotel Style Shower Bar it is not long enough anymore. Most Shower Curtains are not in fact, as the bow takes about 3-4" of length away. This means a standard liner/curtain will only hang a few inches inside the tub. Yes, I could hang it lower, but that would mean having to patch my drywall and paint and then drill into tile. These are 74" long and I measured a "real Hotel" version and they are 78".

I bought this because I have seen these in quite a few hotel baths. They are really nice and eliminate the need for shower curtain rings, which I find to be annoying and troublesome. It is extremely quick and simple to hang and takes only seconds. You wont have any excuse not to wash your curtain every week or so as easy as this is to remove and rehang. Paired with a curved rod I feel like I am in a hotel with every shower.

This product is what it says it is. Once it's unwrapped, it does take only 10 or 20 seconds to put up without any hooks. The bottom is weighted and size is just right for a normal shower. It has a window near the top, which I guess is a minor positive point.It doesn't feel cheap or anything, so there's really nothing I can complain about.

Hog Wild Shower Light

Just installed this nearly a week ago and it works great. There is more than enough water pressure in my apartment to drive the internal turbine and make it work. I also removed the pressure regulator prior to installation and recommend that others do the same as it is a rubber insert with three very tiny holes to regulate the water usage to 2.5 US gallons of water per minute at approximately 80 PSI. You will definitely want to leave in the filter screen though.

Yes, the output is considerably less than typical shower heads but to me it feels great and doesn't spray water all over the place like the previous shower head did.

As for the LED's, I love the colors. I've noticed that the blue is brighter than the red but that's no big deal and both are bright enough to where I could shower in the dark if needed, for example an extended power outage.

I would highly recommend this shower head. It does exactly what its intended to do and since it has an internal turbine, no batteries are required. Just make sure you have sufficient water pressure and shop around for the best price.

If it breaks in short order, then I'll adjust my rating accordingly.

Just under a year (first installed on 9/10/09) and it is just about ready to bite the dust. That's not good. It seems like 11-12 months is the magic number as far as the life expectancy of this item is concerned. I'm really glad I didn't pay the retail price about $49.99 or I would have been really mad. Fortunately I got a second one at a REALLY good discount, paid only $7.98 so I'll install that one soon and try again.

I have been using this shower head for four months.As the previous reviewer mentioned, the water pressure is lower than most shower heads, even after I removed the flow regulator.There is still enough pressure to comfortably rinse my hair.Also, about 2 1/2 months into use all of the lights dimmed considerably but a few weeks later, they intensified again, and have remained bright.Perhaps there was some variability with the water pressure in my house.

The shower light really is powered by the water flow, so I haven't had to worry about replacing batteries.The blue light is bright enough to shower with the lights off, and the red light is dimmer (but still looks cool).I have noticed that the light stays blue even with fairly warm water it will not turn red until the shower is HOT.Interestingly, when the water temperature is borderline, both red and blue LEDs are lit, creating a neat purple effect.

Highly recommended for blue led lovers!

I am enjoying the temperature color change feature, can get into the shower much sooner (waste less water) when I see the color changing.

The water pressure is slightly lower now, so if you like a hard pounding shower, this may ruin it for you. When you shut the water pressure off, its makes some gurgley sounds as the water drains out of the oversized head. Something you get used too. I am getting plenty clean and its really fun to take aa shower, that's the bottom line.

Product is fun and pretty bright when turned on. It does exactly what is shown in many of the videos on youtube and elsewhere. However one recommendations to buyers, Open up the shower head and use clear packaging tape to cover the outer ring of holes where water sprays out. reason being is that the water does not shoot out far enough with normal pressure.All else is good! However it does have a plastic and somewhat cheap feeling to it, but it is fun to take dark showers with a mate.

I bought this shower head on the discount table at a home furnishings store.I installed it first with the pressure regulator installed.The water barely dribbled out, and the light stuttered. For the second installation I took the regulator out.The water reached about a foot away from the shower wall this time.I had to turn the water all the way to the hot side to get it to change from blue to red.My water pressure must not be high enough. Went back to my old boring shower head.

I used a rubber mat between my wrench and the attachment fitting but the chrome still pealed off a little.

I ordered the shower curtain, but when it arrived the color seemed different than it appeared on the computer screen (a lighter, paler, yellow, and not the brighter yellow I had hoped for). I notified Wayfair that I would like to return the item because it was not what I had wanted. They then refused to refund the initial shipping cost ($8, even though a packing slip included with my shipment indicated that shipping only cost $3). Additionally, they were only able to refund "the price the item, minus return shipping," which this time was $5. I went through a series of more than 10 e-mail exchanges with various levels of customer service personnel, and none of them were at all sympathetic to my complaint that I had paid $30 for an item that I was returning, and receiving only $15 in return. They finally conceded that if I shipped the item back myself, I would receive the full price of the item in refund ($20). I did so, and they STILL only refunded me $15. Upon my further complaining, they eventually credited me another $5. Point being...my customer service experience was awful. Wayfair's return policy is completely out of line with other sellers on Amazon, where I have had both the initial and return shipping costs refunded by the company on numerous occassions, and Wayfair should seriously consider a re-working of their policy.

It can get moldy quickly but you can throw it in the washer with a little bleach. Be careful though because the grommets can come off in the washer. Also the creases/wrinkles from the packaging are hard to get out. I do love the bright color though.

Looked just as it was pictured. What I didn't like was that in a few places, where the ruffle met the curtain, there were spots where there was no hem. It just dangled there...

You can't see it once it's hung, but this is a sign of poor craftsmanship. Definately not what I was expecting for the $50 sale price. I'd been watching this item for six months! Hoping the price would drop from the $120 or so they were originally asking. Overall, the shower curtain is undeniably gorgeous. Even with the little imperfections, I still feel this is a steal as far as ruffled shower curtains go. (Which is very expensive, usually twice the price everywhere else.)If it wasn't for the open hems in two places, I would have give it FIVE SHINING STARS! :) Anywho, after all is said and done, I'm very happy.
