This polished brass shower curtain rod is everything they promised and more. It is a permanent mount but not hard to install. This is not one of those cheap, brass colored rods. This is genuine polished brass and incredibly strong.
This is a heavy guage, genuine polished brass rod. You will not have to worry about it bending. I was expecting a 60" rod but received a 72" one instead, but it was easy to cut to desired length with a band saw. Be sure to smooth the freshly cut end of the rod with a file so you don't get metal slivers in your hand while you are working with it. This goes for any cut metal.
The rod is actually two pieces coupled with an inner sleeve which gives it great strength. You will not have any problems in sliding the hooks because the fitted ends are the exact same diameter and nicely matched which creates a nearly seamless appearance. If you polish it with wax, you can keep it beautiful and protected from corrosion and scratches. I recommend you polish it immediately whether you use paste wax or pledge because the oils and acids from your skin and hands will etch into polished brass and most other metals, damaging the polished surface. This is a common problem we see in the telcom and electronics industry. Fingerprints etched into silver, tin, copper, zinc and brass. We use soft, white cotton gloves when handling these types of metals.
You will not see the etching right away, but once you do, it will be too late... so please wax your polished brass right away so this does not occur. Keeping your hands washed while working with polished metals helps but does not stop the process.
It is a great improvement over the pressure fit, spring loaded rods where the hooks get constantly caught because the two sides are different diameters. This brass rod is the same diameter and the hooks slide from end to end with ease.
It may be expensive, but worth every cent. None of the home improvement centers carry anything close to the quality of this shower curtain rod. You won't regret buying this one as long as you know how to properly mount a permanent rod and have the cutting tools to cut the rod to fit your shower opening.
I love it and it goes great with my Polished brass and chrome fixtures. Be sure to buy either a good quality, genuine polished chrome or polished brass hooks for your curtain. If you use some other type of metal, it can interact with the Brass and cause corrosion. Many metals do not interact well with others such as copper and aluminum, etc. Even steel or nickel are not compatible with some metals. Aluminum is self oxidizing and is seldom compatible with any other metal....
So it you plan to buy this quality polished brass rod, please be sure to buy high quality, genuine polished brass or polished chrome hooks to use with it.

Beautiful sturdy rod. Looks great with my new white subway tile shower. If you buy this, you only need one set of brackets, either the decorative stepped bracket or the onen bracket.

If you're looking for a one-piece 6' rod this is not it. It is two pieces that you join together with the end result being a visible seam in the middle. The product description clearly states: "6-Foot length" and "Item Package Quantity 1" leading to believe it is one 6' length but it is not.

The picture shows flanges, so it thought they would come with the bar. This is deceptive--you have to scroll down to find out that the bar comes without flanges, and the flanges turn out to be quite expensive. I can't rate the product, because I can't mount it yet.
In the decsription it says all the different ways it can be installed.Installs on the wall with this bracket, on the ceiling with this bracket but never does it say "It does not include any brackets."Would be nice if the required accessories popped up or if the seller would have called when they received the order just to confirm whether or not brackets were skipped intentionally.Amazing how one phone call makes the difference between excellent customer service/support showing the seller in on their game versus... well... just thinking about cashing the check.They missed a great chance to upsell.
