I purchased this curtain rod for a rental property.The newly-installed porcelain tile on the walls surrounding the tub meant that masonry bits had to be used to drill the quarter-inch holes for the plastic anchors (not included with the rod -you get stainless steel screws only; instructions suggest either plastic or lead anchors).I had to pay the tile contractor to do the drilling, because it took a tremendous amount of strength, and drilling into a vertical surface is very difficult.
I cut 2" off the rod, a job that took me 20 minutes!With the rod wrapped in one of those rubber jar-lid looseners and clamped in the vice, I tried all three of my hacksaws (all have good blades), but the 20-gauge stainless steel pipe did NOT want to be cut -very tricky to even get the cut started.
Another tip: if you are using plastic anchors that have a ring/flange that stays on the surface of the tile/wall, allow for that when you shorten the rod.I measured wall-to-wall and subtracted enough for the mounting brackets plus a tiny bit for wiggle room, but I didn't think about the anchors -I should have cut off another sixteenth-inch or so.During installation, I had to slice off the plastic flanges with a razor blade in order to slide the second bracket into position.Remember that you have to attach one bracket to the wall, then slide both bracket covers onto the rod (and in my case, also thread the curtain rings on between the covers), place one end of the rod over the installed bracket, and THEN attach the other bracket while holding it onto the other end of the rod.This is awkward, but there is no flex at all in the pipe, so you can't slip it between the brackets if they are both already attached to the wall.
I bought this shower rod when we did a minor remodel of the bathroom.I was tired of the shower curtain hooks falling off when it hit the bump in the middle of the adjustable rod.This rod is one piece and the hooks slide smoothly.It is a classic style, not fancy but nice.I am giving it only 4 stars because it didn't come with any installation instructions.Maybe some people could figure it out, but we like to have directions.I was able to find the instructions on the internet.The rod is a little tricky to install.If you need to trim the rod, you have to cut it the perfect, exact length or it won't fit in the brackets.In fact we cut the rod too short and it wouldn't stay in the brackets, but we managed to rig up an extender so it would stay.(The extender is hidden under the bracket.)So be careful cutting!

Purchased this for my bathroom redo. Not cheap looking, looks great, love that there is no "lip" like adjustables. It might be difficult to cut if you have only a hacksaw like someone else stated. I have a chopsaw for metal pipe so it only took me a few seconds to trim it....Be wary of cutting it too short though 1/4 inch less than you need could have it falling out of the brackets.

I needed a straight shower rod for my renovated bathroom and finding a good one was very difficult. I did not want a tension rod as they are cheap looking and in the end won't hold up. I purchased the Moen rod because it is bolted to the shower wall and the company has a good reputation. The quality of the product is excellent. The rod is sturdy, bolts securely in place, and the construction of the unit is excellent. I can't comment on the ease of installation as my contractor put it up; he didn't complain. If you are looking for a shower rod that will last, this is the unit to buy.
