I bought this to cover glass inset into my front door for privacy. I had originally bought a Gila product in the Depot, but opened that only to find that you had to purchase their own solution in order to install, plus it looked too complicated. Returned. After reading reviews, I bought this Artscapes product through Amazon and am extremely happy with the result. It was very easy to install using household water and soap, and they even provided the squeegie. Design is beautiful. Only 4 stars due to price, which seems a bit high. The quality of the product is top notch though. Fast free delivery from Amazon too.

This film is absolutely beautiful--looks just as good as (or better than) the pictures! The film has a high-quality feel about it as well (thicker than I expected it to be!).

I would've given it 5 stars, except that I followed the directions to the letter and still ended up with a few small bubbles between the film and window (these bubbles were not visible during or directly after installation--showed up 2 days afterward).I have a white sheer curtain over the window anyway which makes these imperfections near-invisible, so it didn't really hurt anything (the beautiful scroll pattern still shows through =)).

If you are applying the film as the sole window covering, be sure to squeegee it VERY well and you should be OK.I would buy this film again in a minute!

Easy to install but you do need to clean the window very very well first--any little spots or specks become bumps. I am using it in a bathroom where I wanted privacy but did not want to install blinds or curtains.

I bought 2 of these films to install on a large bathroom window overlooking our tub (no idea why the original builder decided to use clear glass for this window). Due to the size of the window (42" x 42"), I had to order 2 films to try and cover the majority of the window. You can look at the image I posted in the customer images section to see how the finished film application turned out. Let me start out by saying that this film is gorgeous. It looks amazing and instantly improves the look of a window if applied properly.

Pros:

Looks gorgeous, adds a lot of class to an otherwise plain window

Does an excellent job of blocking direct sunlight. I had only one film up for a while during the day so I could compare the effect of the film when illuminated by direct sunlight. It does an amazing (much better than expected) job of diffusing the harsh, direct sunlight, and instead casts a beautiful diffuse sunlit pattern within the room.

Very easy to install if you follow instructions... included squeegee is also a very nice and helpful plus

Size is exactly 24" x 36" ... patterns are also perfectly tileable across multiple films.

Cons:

If using multiple films to span a larger window, even though you can match the patterns at the seams, the junction between the two films is readily discernible and does not look very nice. If you have a clear glass window then you are out of luck and there isn't much you can do. If like me, you have a window pane with a supporting frame within the window pane, you can line up the edges of the films along the horizontal/vertical lines of the supporting frame if you measure things correctly. This hides the seam very well as the shadow of the frame distracts the eye and you won't notice the seams of the film. You can see what it looks like in the picture I posted in the Customer images section

The first 2 films I tried using, I noticed a distinct difference in the color of the 2 films (not color tones, just the net gray color of the diffuse section of the 2 films) even though I installed both films simultaneously using the same soapy water solution. This only further exacerbated the visible seams between the 2 films (I did not line up the films with the supporting frame of my window pane on my first attempt). The 3rd film matched my 1st one better, but I was also helped by lining up the edge of the films with the supporting frame which tricks the eye into not noticing the seams and minor color differences between the films

Really would be nice to order larger size films for larger windows. As mentioned above, while tiling can work out reasonably well if you are lucky and careful, things would be a lot easier and the end result would look a lot nicer if you could buy a larger size film of this same type for larger windows.

Tips on application of the film:

Use Windex and a lint free cloth or paper towels to clean the window pane thoroughly.

Use very few drops of soap in the soapy water. For my first film, I think it was a bit too soapy and as a result I had some minor milky streaking under the first film. It was nothing major or very apparent, but was still there. The second film, I used very very little soap and even though the water didn't "wet" the glass as well, the end result was much nicer.

Use LOTS of water on the window. Get it completely wet. It will make your life much easier by letting you slide the film and get the positioning perfect

Once you have the film positioned perfectly, very gently and slowly squeegee the water out. The film will move a bit from time to time. Make sure you are slow, patient, and that you keep re-adjusting the film position. As you squeegee more and more water out, the film will be harder to move, but if you are careful and persistent, you can get the positioning absolutely perfect.

Once you are done squeegeeing, keep an eye on the film for another 10-15 mins as the water dries out...you might need to re-adjust the film a tad bit, especially if you are trying to match seams between multiple films

Some air bubbles will show up in a couple of hours, or are easier to see as the lighting conditions change. Keep the squeegee handy and get those bubbles out whenever you see them.

Lastly, be very careful when squeegeeing at the edges. It is very easy to lift up the edge of the film on the backstroke.

I hope all of this helps. This is definitely a beautiful product and works much better than I thought any film based product could work.

Purchased for bath privacy. Very pleased with results.

Material is good and thick no stretching or ripping during installation. Instructions were very friendly and complete, including a squeegee and instructions to use common dish soap and water in a spray bottle, and a towel to protect surrounding areas.

The material was also cut very precisely *exactly* 36" width. I was worried because my windows were actually about 18 1/8" wide each. But, instructions noted that you want around 1/16" gap. Having no choice I did this, and it actually looks great.

I was very clean in surface prep and material handling, and had no problems. Since you use soapy water on the glass during install, you can actually position the film precisely in place before squeegeeing the water out.
