Double Curved Shower Curtain Rod by Better Bath

Double Curved Shower Curtain Rod by Better BathI was originally going to get one of the Monen curved shower rods. Brushed nickel, very nice, a little less $. But I figured with the double bar I'd save the extra $ and space on extra towel bars. Not sure I made the right choice.

The chrome is alright, but not fabulous. The joints on the bars are pretty visible, especially the towel bar ends when you tighten down the screws and it creates an ugly space. Hopefully I'll like it more after some use. It definitely creates more space, though I think the complete curved bars look nicer than this one that is straight, curved, straight.

Installation can be a total pain. One end was easy, with studs behind the drywall, but if you have to use the drywall hangers on either end, take my advice and go straight out and spend a buck or two on some better drywall anchors. Using the ones provided just cause problems. You'll just end up with big useless holes in your drywall that you'll have to get bigger anchors anyway to fill in. The anchors provided don't take the screws well and will either push entirely through the wall, or will just spin around and around and tear up the drywall and increase the size of the hole. Basically, the anchors don't anchor. Once I got some zinc #8 50 lb. anchors I got it up alright.

Also, I have a pretty standard 59" opening. 60" rough shower size plus drywall. I checked the FAQ for this product on the seller's site and it says it can adjust to fit 58 1/2" up to something like 61" without modification. I had to assemble it and then bang on the ends pretty hard to get it to fit 59". If you've got a 58 1/2" opening, good luck getting it to squeeze down another 1/2".

I was really expecting a more substantial rod. This one is hollow core and the rod itself is pretty thin. But, it does add space to a tight shower space and the towel rod is helpful in a multi-member family bath.I'd give it a 6 out of 10

We have a small shower and I love the curved design of this rod, it creates more space in a small bathroom shower and also provides a great place for towels. However, we installed ours a year ago, and its already rusting. I'm unhappy about that. I'd expect it to last longer for the price.

This is a great shower rod but it was definitely a pain to install. Then after about a year there was some rust spots that showed up on the inner bar.I tried to clean them off but it really only ruined the finish more. The rod has been up for about 2 years now we are about to repaint and do a small renovation.Unfortunately we are going to have to purchase a new rod because this one is just too rusty to put back up.Brookstone only offers a year warranty for their products so we are out of luck...

It's a nice looking shower rod and it would have looked great in my newly remodeled bathroom, but it does need hardware. I wanted something that uses spring-loaded pressure to hold the rod in place. Despite the description, this isn't it. If you don't mind drilling through your tile, (I have porcelain tile and it broke 4 drill bits just to put a security bar near the tub), this may work for you.
