Glee Rain Shower Curtain

I bought this for my college apartment about 5 years ago. We needed a design that everyone could agree on, so this was a good neutral compromise. It's survived 3 years of undergrad and now 2 years of my own apartment. Moen 55-5 5ft. Satin Stainless Shower Rod with Concealed Brushed Stainless Steel Flanges,

I purchased this curtain rod for a rental property.The newly-installed porcelain tile on the walls surrounding the tub meant that masonry bits had to be used to drill the quarter-inch holes for the plastic anchors (not included with the rod -you get stainless steel screws only; instructions suggest either plastic or lead anchors).I had to pay the tile contractor to do the drilling, because it took a tremendous amount of strength, and drilling into a vertical surface is very difficult.

I cut 2" off the rod, a job that took me 20 minutes!With the rod wrapped in one of those rubber jar-lid looseners and clamped in the vice, I tried all three of my hacksaws (all have good blades), but the 20-gauge stainless steel pipe did NOT want to be cut -very tricky to even get the cut started.

Another tip: if you are using plastic anchors that have a ring/flange that stays on the surface of the tile/wall, allow for that when you shorten the rod.I measured wall-to-wall and subtracted enough for the mounting brackets plus a tiny bit for wiggle room, but I didn't think about the anchors -I should have cut off another sixteenth-inch or so.During installation, I had to slice off the plastic flanges with a razor blade in order to slide the second bracket into position.Remember that you have to attach one bracket to the wall, then slide both bracket covers onto the rod (and in my case, also thread the curtain rings on between the covers), place one end of the rod over the installed bracket, and THEN attach the other bracket while holding it onto the other end of the rod.This is awkward, but there is no flex at all in the pipe, so you can't slip it between the brackets if they are both already attached to the wall.

I bought this shower rod when we did a minor remodel of the bathroom.I was tired of the shower curtain hooks falling off when it hit the bump in the middle of the adjustable rod.This rod is one piece and the hooks slide smoothly.It is a classic style, not fancy but nice.I am giving it only 4 stars because it didn't come with any installation instructions.Maybe some people could figure it out, but we like to have directions.I was able to find the instructions on the internet.The rod is a little tricky to install.If you need to trim the rod, you have to cut it the perfect, exact length or it won't fit in the brackets.In fact we cut the rod too short and it wouldn't stay in the brackets, but we managed to rig up an extender so it would stay.(The extender is hidden under the bracket.)So be careful cutting!

Purchased this for my bathroom redo. Not cheap looking, looks great, love that there is no "lip" like adjustables. It might be difficult to cut if you have only a hacksaw like someone else stated. I have a chopsaw for metal pipe so it only took me a few seconds to trim it....Be wary of cutting it too short though 1/4 inch less than you need could have it falling out of the brackets.

I needed a straight shower rod for my renovated bathroom and finding a good one was very difficult. I did not want a tension rod as they are cheap looking and in the end won't hold up. I purchased the Moen rod because it is bolted to the shower wall and the company has a good reputation. The quality of the product is excellent. The rod is sturdy, bolts securely in place, and the construction of the unit is excellent. I can't comment on the ease of installation as my contractor put it up; he didn't complain. The linen is nice, but it would have been good to know that this shower curtain only has 11 holes vs. the standard 12. If you're planning on using this alone (not paired with anything else), then no problem. --But since I paired it with a liner, NOW I have a problem! i bought these because i was a little worried about plastic residue (from previous $1 shower curtains) going back into our water.EWG has a great state by state water contamination site.Also my cat drinks water from the tub....just want to be safe.Wasn't sure how these fabric curtains would hold up to mold and mildew since, it seems, they are meant to go with a plastic liner & have no "waterproofing" added to the fabric.I have had them for some months now (with no plastic liner) and they are holding up just fine.I am a little paranoid about mold so i let them drip dry (ends in the tub) and then air dry outside of the tub.works so far.

For those of you wondering about mold/mildew, the answer is, "yes," these curtains mildew over time.I've had two of them (full claw tub) for 2+ years and after the first year, one of them started acquiring mildew at a rapid pace.I don't use bleach or other harsh chemicals at home, and was unable to clean the black spots with any of the online remedies I found.I am going to try hemp, although I suspect any fiber will grow mildew.

However, they are attractive, just use a liner (EVA if possible, say no to PVC).

Cons:

After 3+ months, I still have the fold lines/wrinkles that it originally had when I opened it. I may need to iron it, but I haven't tried it yet. I'll update if I find a solution

Overall, the wrinkles don't bother me, since they're not obvious, but it may bother some OCD people.

The grommets could be improved by using plastic or metal, but that would increase the cost. Not necessary, since the threaded grommets that it comes with seem plenty strong.

I was disapointed with the curtain due to the fact that it was not finished well. There were cuts in the curtain and several holes for the rings were not cut. The sewing was very poor. Maybe they should pay their workers better. The colors were true, and bright.

Maytex Marco Fabric Shower Curtain, Black

I ordered this shower curtain to go with a black, white and grey color themed bathroom I was putting together and it was the perfect addition.The translucent strips let decent light into the shower if you use a clear shower curtain liner (the only lights in my bathroom are above the sink and I can still see well in the shower), and the swirls on those translucent strips are a nice touch.Note that the strips really are a silvery clear, though they may look whitish in the photos on Amazon because of the white shower walls behind them.The height of the bottom strip is perfect; it lines up just above the edge of my bathtub.The top strip is good for letting in light, but I will say that (at least at the height that my shower curtain rod is hung) it would not appropriately conceal a woman's upper body if there were someone else in the bathroom at the same time!That's probably not an issues for many people since someone who would be in the bathroom at the same time you're showering is probably someone you're very close to, but it's worth noting that it doesn't provide quite as much privacy as it could if that strip was placed differently on the curtain.

The black fabric is a typical, relatively thin polyester that is probably pretty waterproof, which wouldn't look particularly classy on its own.However, the shiny grey/silver strips and the translucent swirly strips really add to it and I don't notice that the black fabric isn't very thick.That's the only reason I gave it four starts instead of five, is that all it would take for this to look like a really nice expensive curtain would be to make the black part out of a nicer and thicker fabric.It still looks wonderful though, and I think it's well worth the money I paid.There were some loose threads hanging off of some areas when I received it, since there are so many seams with the multiple strips of fabric (and I think a couple were from the thread of the swirls), but I just trimmed them off and it looks fine and doesn't seem to be poorly made.I haven't put it through the wash yet so I'm not sure how it will hold up, though I have thrown it in the dryer to de-wrinkle it and it came out just fine.

I paired this with a grey bath mat, grey towels, and black fabric storage bins on a silver over-the-toilet shelf rack, and the whole combination looks wonderful.

This item appears to be black, gray & white in the picture. However, the white part is actually see through. After reading the reviews I decided to purchase the item for my gray, black & white bathroom and it's a very good compliment. I did decide to use a white liner to get the look of the picture and it worked great!

I tried 3 of these, each one with flaws. The 1st one had a hole I could fit my pinky into. The 2nd not only was sewn crooked so that half was slightly but noticeably higher than the other, but had many, many threads. Some come right off without cutting, just loose strings, some appeared as ends of the circles not cut off, others were attached from one circle to the next so not knowing if the circles would come apart if you cut these, you have to leave them. The 3rd curtain I received had the stitching attaching the bottom lace to the fabric actually all coming out! Love the look and matches my bathroom wonderfully but very poorly, cheaply made! D

I ordered this because I have a bathroom with "hard to match" wallpaper. So I needed something in this color,that wouldn'tcompete with the print on the wallpaper.It is a lightweight curtain, and has a bitof an iridescent quality to it. The areas that appear white in the picture are actually clear. I used a white shower curtain liner with the curtain, as shown in the picture. One thing to be aware of,isthe quality of the stitching. There is a spiral pattern stitched Into the curtain, and the stitching looks overdone and clumsy in some areas. It may be a flaw in this particular curtain though, and not an issue with the design in general.

I bought this for my son's home. He just gutted and built a new bathroom from scratch. He wanted greys and yellows. This shower curtain was only one I could find that matched his wall paint color and the floor tile without being overpowering coloring. Its thin, there are no grommets on the rod hangers and I fear one washing it will be gone. I'd have sent it back, but he liked it and uses a liner so I'm hoping this lasts at least a year. Not worth the cost. Not even close.

This curtain is alittle overpriced for the quality of the fabric. The fabric is very thin and a little flimsy. For the price i would have also liked to see metal rings around the curtain ring holes. But I love the design and the colors together, so for me the aesthetics outweigh the cheaper fabric quality. I am a little nervous to wash it as I feel like it will fall apart but I will update my review if i do need to wash it. I did however just realize this is for a "kids" bathroom. I bought this for my bathroom (im 28) and it looks very elegant with my brocade gray towels and other bathroom accents.
