This isn't as dark as TRUE oil-rubbed bronze (what is? we've looked everywhere and ordered several). Oil-rubbed bronze is black like iron but has a hint here or there of color. This is more like a dark bronze in other words more reddish brown(unlike the photo). This is the darkest bronze rod we've found after going to all the stores and ordering several online. And it's still dark enough, though, to work w/ our bathroom hardware and not be too glaringly different, not to mention it's up and away from our hardware. It's high quality. I bought it w/ the Aquatico Disc Set of 12 Shower Curtain Hooks, Oil Rubbed Bronze.
My wife and I liked the rod. We have a shower that was built kinda screwy and is 72" instead of the standard 70". So we have a hard time getting rods to fit tight because the rods usually have a maximum of 72" which puts it right there at the max. This one stays in good though.

It was damaged in shipping though. I am not sure if it was excessive beating by UPS or what but booth decorative knob ends had chips knocked out of them. And the design on the knobs appears to be a ? I am not sure what material but it would chip or break easily if it came falling out of the shower and hit the tile. I did not return ours as it was chipped on both ends on the same side so I just put it in with that side up

As was the case with another reviewer, my curtain rod also arrived chipped (small chip on the decorative end piece). Had I not read the other review, I would have simply exchanged the curtain rod for a new one, since it was actually very attractive. One chipped curtain rod may be a rare exception; however, two chipped rods begins to concern me, so I returned it. My curtain rod was poorly wrapped in the outer box, but very secure in its original box.Even with some bumping in transit, I wouldn't expect a strong material to chip, so I suspect that these end pieces are prone to this type of damage. What happens if I ever inadvertently drop the curtain rod? As attractive as this curtain rod may be, I had to give it a maximum of three stars due to this chipping problem.
