So I try e-mailing Amazon again and while I'm waiting for a reply I try to go through the return process online. On the webpage you're informed that if you receive the wrong color item, you have to request a return instead of a replacement, and then re-order the item. But when you click the 'return' link for the item, you're told it's only available for replacement. Great.
Finally I have to call customer service to get someone to talk to me. I explain everything, and am then told I can wait a week for them to fix the wrong description on the website and then they'll contact me so I can replace it. Two weeks later I haven't heard from Amazon, so I contact them yet again and am finally assured I will get my money back and can return the curtain rod. They did refund my money, but now I have to go to the trouble of returning the rod, which by the way was packed into a ridiculously HUGE box ten times the size of the curtain rod, it's impossible to carry any significant distance (I don't have a car) and as I said if I want to try and re-order the correct item through Amazon (I don't) the product description page is still incorrect. This whole mess took over 3 weeks. Not happy.
LONG STORY SHORT : THERE'S A MISTAKE ON THIS PAGE AS OF THIS WRITING, CHECK TO MAKE SURE THE PICTURE AND THE TEXT DESCRIPTION OF THIS ITEM MATCH BEFORE YOU ORDER IT, BECAUSE AMAZON DOESN'T REALLY CARE IF THEY GET IT RIGHT. THEY DON'T HAVE TO, I GUESS.Ordered this shower rod wanting a decorative one in a "brass or gold" finish. Exactly what I wanted. Came on time and efficiently shipped just as I've come to expect from Amazon. I checked a few local stores, couldn't find anything I wanted. So I went on Amazon and there it was! I am finding the Amazon "marketplace" the place for many household items. It's also much easier to shop in and a real time saver!
