Sea to Summit Pocket Shower

Sea to Summit Pocket ShowerThe packed size, the volume when full and the construction were why I bought this shower.

It is starting to be time to replace my "solo sun shower" that I've used since 1987.

The quality of materials is nice. The filling was easy.

BUT, the working end drips when closed, and merely dribbles when open.

I returned this product after filling just once.

I'm not usually very harsh on reviews but this product is to serve one purpose, and it fails.

I've used one of these for a couple of years and I'm very satisfied. It is tiny, light, and attaches easily to the outside of my pack for immediate access.

My main use is simply to haul a lot of water from a water source to the camp site for sharing among a group. However, I occasionally use it for showering as well. As a solar shower it is pretty useless. I've considered taking a thin, clear plastic bag (like a garment bag) to enhance the solar properties, but frankly I seldom encounter conditions where any solar shower would work anyway. (I'd need a sunny hang spot, somewhere I'll be all day or returning to in the afternoon, etc.) My solution on cooler days/evenings is simply to fill the bag halfway, then drain/boil about two liters of water and add it back in. This brings all the water to a comfortably tepid temperature without having to use a ton of fuel.

A fellow backpacker overtightened the nozzle on my bag and it started leaking slowly. I e-mailed Sea to Summit and they sent instructions on how to remove the nozzle and re-seat the O-ring. Worked like a champ! This made me feel a lot better about the product since I was concerned that the nozzle seemed like the weak point in the system. It's actually pretty sturdy.

Of course, what keeps water in can keep water out, so this can work well as a dry bag, too.

I've got two of these and used them three times now and I've not had any issues with performance or with leaking. I suspect the other reviewer got a bad unit.

I really like the Sea to Summit pocket shower.I got to use it once in the Smokies.Having a shower after three days of sweating my butt off was great.I just took it to the creek, filled it up, hung it from a tree, and took a nice cold shower. It was hot outside so I didn't need to let the water heat up in the sun.The colder the better.I only got one use out of it and then I decided to ditch it at a Ranger Station in favor of saving weight.I'm not sure that was the right decision, but I'm not buyuing another one so I guess that says something.I think this would be great for camping at a place with no facilities, but I didn't like it for hiking. When cutting weight it was the first thing to go.

This product is key for any extended camping trips or any time that you don't have the ability to bathe in a pond or stream or public facility. I use this for music festivals as well. You find people begging to use it haha. Don't but this expecting to feel like you're in your shower at home, even on full blast the water flow is not fantastic but is the best solution available for sure.
