This shower rod is 60 inches long and it does not telescope like most shower rods.Bottom line is you only have the ability to adjust it by about an inch (tops) so you will want to measure before you buy.

The adjustable Shower Rod I bought at the hardware store fell after 6 months. I didn't want that to happen again so I tightened extra hard and something broke inside.
Then I found this Donner at Amazon. I think this is the best rod that does not require holes in your wall:
1. It doesn't have a bump in the middle that snags your shower curtain rings.
2. It can tighten more than those with a wide adjustment range.
3. It looks beautiful, like a stainless steel appliance. (I chose Brushed Nickel color)
However, this rod is more difficult to install than the standard adjustable. You need a tape measure and something to cut the tube. I used a tubing cutter similar to this: (Ridgid 40617 1/4-Inch to 1-1/8-Inch Close Quarters Tubing Cutter). And your cut must be accurate because you only have a 1/2" of adjustment in the rod.
It is a 5ft long stainless steel tube, 1 inch in diameter, 0.025" thick wall. It has rubber tipped 'feet' that slide on both ends.
One of those feet has a screw adjustment like the feet on a refrigerator.
The non-adjustable foot adds 1/4" to the length.
The adjustable foot adds 15/16" (almost 1") in the shortest position. It can extend up to 0.5".
So the length of the rod with feet is 61.25" to 61.75".
In my case, I needed 58 7/8". I cut 2.5" off the tube.

This is a high quality shower rod.The brushed nickel finish is nicely done, and it will have a place of hard work in our new bathroom. We decided to go with a shower curtain due to the pain of washing shower doors but wanted something that would look nice. This is easily cut to fit.
THIS IS A ONE YEAR UPDATE. The finish is holding up great, and although I was worried about it losing tension and slipping, it is just as tight and sturdy in fit as when I put it up a year ago.

This shower rod works smoothly.I bought this rod to for a 2 foot application and it worked great.You can cut the rod to whatever length you need, then twist the tightening adjustable end to tighten the rod in the opening.The advantage to using this type of rod is there is no annoying transition in the middle of the rod like most twist/tension type shower rods have.This seam or transition that most shower rods have often make it difficult for the shower curtain to slide smoothly across.

Amazon has been a lifesaver through the remodel of two bathrooms!We found the tubs, cabinet hardware AND the shower curtain rods at this site.(All at excellent prices, I might add.)The finish on this rod works beautifully with our brushed nickel fixtures.I like that the size adjustment is at one end instead of the usual two-section extension approach.The curtain slides more smoothly without the bump in the middle where one section fits into the other.My installer had no problem putting them up; he trimmed a little length off the rod to make the fit perfect, but that wasn't an issue.
I purchased this to replace the heavy duty one I owned. This is really poor quality, similar to a cheap plastic bag. Magnets? A total of three, not nearly enough to keep it against the tub. The package description does not even list the plastic thickness anywhere (and we know why). I can say that this is misleading.
