Moen DN2145BN Inspirations 5-foot Low-Profile Curved Shower Rod, Brushed Nickel

Moen DN2145BN Inspirations 5-foot Low-Profile Curved Shower Rod, Brushed Nickel
  • Brushed nickel finish provides a lightly brushed warm grey metallic look
  • Fits standard 72-inch by 72-inch shower curtains
  • Quickly and easily add 6-inch to 7-inch of elbow room to the shower without having to remodel
  • 3-inch round flange covers conceal holes from previous shower rods
  • Works with standard shower curtains

I think that this is cleanest looking shower curtain rod available especially the end caps that cover the screws.I've also found that the curved feature does add a lot of spaciousness when in the shower.

I found that the installation was a little tricky because I had to cut about an inch off the length to get a proper fit. It's important when cutting off the tube that the exact same angle and orientation as the original end be maintained because this is how it stays in place.

I was very careful in getting both the exact measurement and correct angle so it installed perfectly, however I'm pretty good at this type thing and have all the correct tools. If you're not skilled in doing projects like this then you should get a mechanical/tech type friend (or proficient handyman) to help.

(#1 REVIEWER)I wanted one of these for a long time since I've a shower with a curved curtain rod in a hotel... and now that I have it at home it works as well as I remember! No more clinging shower curtain! No more hitting shower curtain with my elbows!

The installation was fairly easy, I was able to do it alone without help.I am not very good with tools, so I had to measure everything three times to make sure it was right, so it took me about 45 minutes. The rod has been installed for about 1 year now.It shows no rusting and I am very pleased with it.

I noticed that the price on the on this product fluctuates. There is a nice online tool that I use to help catch a good price on Amazon, this tool is called"Online Price Alert".This tool will send you an email when the Amazon item price reaches the target price range that you specify. If you search on "online price alert" in Google it will be come up at the top.I find this tool to be very helpful.

This curved shower rod replaced another one we'd bought on Amazon. The other one wasn't as expensive as this Moen rod; however, the other one began rusting after about a year. This Moen rod is more expensive, but we believe the quality is worth the extra money. Plus, the Amazon retailer (Buy Plumbing) has it priced way below Moen's suggested retail of around $60. Also, before we ordered this, we called Moen about rusting, and their rep said it has Moen's Limited Lifetime Warranty. Now, installation wasn't simple. We had to cut one end a couple times before we got it to fit (the included instructions do state you may need to cut the rod). We have a DeWalt miter saw with a metal cutting blade. So, cutting wasn't too bad. Cutting this pipe with a hack saw might be challenging to say the least! Anyway, if you're looking for quality, you'll be happy with this rod.

Let me start by saying this shower curtain rod is excellently constructed. The rod itself is a mandrel bent stainless tubing, the end fittings are beautifully welded, the escutcheon even has oblong cutout for the rods curvature. This curtain rod will probably never rust and last a lifetime.

Installation is a pain in the butt. They really need to provide a template for the alignment of the mountain holes. The rod, 2 end fittings, and escutcheon all have to go onto the wall at the same time while having to align your mounting screws. You better get a second pair of hands for this. It's a lot harder than it seems and remember the rod is curved. There is also no adjustment for the rod, if it's too long, the only solution is to cut the rod.Installation is a bear!

One more irk is that the end fittings have 6 holes each which make you think you would need 12 screws total for installation. However, 12 screws is overkill and the kit only comes with 6 screws, so my question, why provide 12 freaking holes?3-4 holes per fitting will perfectly suffice.

Well, despite this saying it is for 5' openings on the advert, and saying it was for 59-60" openings in the included instructions I don't think it would work in anything much above 59".The problem is the tube is roughly 58.5" long so in a 60" opening the end covers would not hide the exposed portion of the mounting brackets.(They do slide into the tube about 3" so technically it would still work but it would look bad at the ends.)

For my 58" opening I had to cut .75" off the tube.Despite the suggestion of cutting equal amounts from both ends I decided to take it from just one end, especially for such a small cut.

So, if you have an opening that is say 58.75-59" it should go in without modification.Otherwise, if your opening is larger than 59.25" don't get this, if your opening is smaller then expect to cut the tube.

The final installation looks good but don't expect to be able to do chin-ups on it.The end brackets are good and strong BUT the tube only has a slip-fit onto the bracket so it can rotate just slightly so it feels a bit weak, which I suppose is good since you are not supposed to hang off it anyway.Don't worry, it is not going to fall down or anything because the brackets insert several inches into the tube.It is also not going to sag and end up looking like a smiley face. The brackets are welded at the correct angle and will not move.Just the tube can move a little bit with a little pressure.

Obviously there is no seam in the rod like many cheap straight ones so the hooks don't get hung up which is a simple but very appreciated benefit of this rod.

Another note on the installation; they say to install one bracket, then slip the tube on and then rotate it around into place (you'll see what I mean when you look at the instructions), I would suggest that you only mount the first bracket loosely, do not mount the bracket tight at all otherwise you will have trouble getting it to rotate into position because it will either hit the ceiling or hit the shower wall if it protrudes from the wall at all.

I have not had it installed enough to comment on the wear or longevity.I have taken a shower whit it installed and it is very nice.Great, simple, modern look with clean edges and nice finish.
